New Music: AlunaGeorge – “I Wanna Be Like You” (Stream)

If you’re a fan of Disney’s animated musicals you’re in for a real treat today. While hanging out at the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge today, playing music from their upcoming album Body Talk, increasingly popular UK pop duo AlunaGeorge unexpectedly released a cover of “I Wanna Be Like You“, a fan favorite from Disney’s The Jungle Book. Jazzing up Louis Prima‘s 1967 original, Aluna and George downplay their distinct electopop sound for a cover that’s as warm and inviting as it is suprising.

Given the duo’s predilection for children’s fantasy – as shown in their recently released video for “Attracting Flies” – maybe we shouldn’t be surprised that they are covering Disney classics. Here’s hoping a random fit of inspiration leads them to do a rendition of “Be Prepared” or “Under the Sea“.
