Madonna Is Top Music Earner of 2012
Madonna, 52, was named the biggest earner in music of 2012 today. Her world tour alone helped her rake in $34.6 million.
Madonna also snagged the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Magazine’s annual list of 40 top money makers for the second time. 2012′s biggest tour was her 88 date “MDNA” tour, which earned approximately $32 million, 93.5% percent of Madonna’s revenue.
Bruce Springsteen also released a No. 1 album, and his live show revenues made up 92% of his earnings.
“When it comes to making the biggest score, the most money always comes from high-paying live performances,” Billboard’s editorial analyst Glenn Peoples said about the list. ”Ironically, the most popular touring artists are usually well past their peaks on the album sales charts.”
