Whitney Houston Honored On ‘VH1 Divas’

Whitney Houston Honored On VH1 Divas

Legendary singer, Whitney Houston, was honored on VH1 Divas this past Sunday. Houston was found dead in her hotel room in February earlier this year. To pay homage to the iconic diva, her biggest fans took the stage in Los Angeles and performed some of her most renown songs.

To kick off the tribute, Brandy first took the stage and performed, and then told the crowd “The first concert I ever went to was a Whitney Houston show and I was determined to get close to her“. Little did she know, Houston would later become close friends to Brandy, and even played her godmother in the 1997 TV movie, Cinderella.

Brandy’s performance was followed by powerhouse names and voices, such as Melanie Fiona, Jordin Sparks, and Ledisi, performing hits such as I Wanna Dance With SomebodyI’m Every Woman, and How Will I Know. While previous tributes may have honored some of her earlier ballads, this segment of VH1 Divas really honed in on her dance singles, some of which made her the iconic superstar she was.
