Are you excited for the first album from The Shins since 2007′s Wincing the Night Away? (Did we mention the band members are all new save for front man, James Mercer?)
Well, we will have to wait a little longer until their fourth album, Port of Morrow, is all out to the world. But, the good news is we get a single! The track may be titled, “Simple Song”, but the track is anything but. It combines an opening drone, with a catchy hook, and lots of verb for good measure.
“Well this is just a simple song to say what you’ve done”
Still, there is something very epic about this song and its growth as background Ah’s ascend and the lyrics get a bit more profound. A song this grand is especially appropriate as the band prepare for a come-back. With production value that is familiar and reminiscent of Chutes Too Narrow, I for one cannot wait for what may be in store on the rest of the album.
Port of Morrow is due out March 20th on Columbia Records.
