B.o.B. Releases E.P.I.C. (Every Play Is Crucial) Mixtape (Stream/Download):
How far gone is Bobby Ray? The ATLien has always been an odd figure, a rapper with proven pop sensibilities who left the streets behind for spacey beats and Top 40 hooks. So what does the free mixtape, the offering generally aimed at the streets, mean for us when B.o.B. is the artist behind it? No concessions, apparently. Sonically, the E.P.I.C. mixtape is just as radio friendly as B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, and shouldn’t alienate fans of “Airplanes,” “Nothin On You“, or “Magic.” Even when the hood shows up, represented in this case by 2 Chainz on “Perfect Symmetry“, its in a Pop context, as the rock outro of the song can attest to. Mos Def and T.I. show up to kick straight bars over the aptly titled “Boom Bap“, and elsewhere there’s appearances from Eminem, Roscoe Dash, Big K.R.I.T. & Bun B on “5 on the Kush” (check that out here), Lil Wayne and others.
